Essential Care

  • Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, and household chemicals, as these may affect metals and finishes.
  • Remove jewellery before sleeping, swimming, bathing, exercising, or cleaning.
  • Keep away from chlorine and harsh cleaning agents.
  • Avoid contact with hard surfaces or other jewellery to minimise scratching.
  • Store pieces individually in soft pouches or by yc. packaging to prevent tangling and abrasion.
  • Regular wear can help slow tarnish on sterling silver.

Sterling Silver (925)

Sterling silver naturally develops a soft patina over time, part of its character.

Daily Care

Gently polish with a soft cloth after wear to remove oils and residue. For light tarnish, use your by yc. polishing cloth.

Cleaning

Clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Avoid silver dips and harsh chemical cleaners. Ultrasonic cleaners may be used for solid silver pieces, but not for items with delicate stones.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place with an anti-tarnish strip or pouch. Keep separate from other metals to reduce scratching and oxidation.

Gold

Gold is naturally resilient, yet benefits from mindful wear.

Cleaning

Use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly.

Wear

Remove before exposure to water, heat, or perspiration.
Over time, gold may develop subtle marks, a natural reflection of wear.

Gemstones & Pearls

Different materials require considered care.

Hard Gemstones

(diamond, sapphire, ruby)
Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Avoid steam or ultrasonic cleaning for coloured stones.

Soft & Porous Stones

(opal, emerald, pearl)
Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid chemicals and prolonged moisture.
Pearls should be kept dry and handled delicately to preserve their lustre.

Chains & Fine Links

Fine chains require careful handling to maintain their form.

Wear

Avoid snagging on clothing or accessories.

Care

Untangle gently without pulling. Clean with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
Periodically check clasps and links for wear.

Storage

  • Store each piece separately in a pouch or box.
  • Keep silver in anti-tarnish materials or sealed bags.
  • Avoid humid environments, including bathrooms.
